Ansys Motor-CAD - Enterprise Electric Machine Design Software

Ansys Motor-CAD is dedicated electric machine design software for fast multiphysics simulation across the full torque-speed operating range. Template-based set-up lets engineers evaluate motor topologies and concepts quickly and produce designs optimised for performance, efficiency and size.

Its four integrated modules, EM, Therm, Lab and Mech, perform electromagnetic, thermal, performance-mapping and mechanical calculations iteratively, so a design moves from concept to final layout in less time.

Axial flux machines: Thermal module support (beta) with water-jacket, shaft-groove and convection cooling.
Induction machine efficiency: a unified performance map with automated Maxwell-Motor-CAD integration.

Electromagnetic and Thermal Design from Templates

Parametrised templates cover magnetic and cooling topologies. Electromagnetics combine 2D FEA with analytical solutions, and a 3D thermal-fluid network uses CFD, FEA and empirical correlations for steady-state and transient temperatures.

Efficiency Maps and Duty-Cycle Performance

Efficiency and loss maps are calculated across the operating range, including temperature-dependent duty cycles, field weakening and demagnetisation checks.

Motor-CAD and Maxwell Workflow

Designs export to Ansys Maxwell for 2D or 3D field analysis, circuit coupling and efficiency map generation.
