Ansys Autodyn - Enterprise Nonlinear Dynamics Analysis Software

Ansys Autodyn simulates how materials respond to short-duration, severe loading: high-velocity impact, high pressure and explosions. Its models represent the interaction of liquids, solids and gases, phase transitions in materials and the propagation of shock waves, so large deformation and failure can be studied with confidence.

Autodyn runs within Ansys Workbench as well as its own native interface, and is known for ease of use in a demanding field.

Ansys Autodyn 2026 R1

• HPC Platform Services for Explicit Dynamics: Ansys HPS can now create and manage Explicit Dynamics jobs as an alternative to the Remote Solve Manager.
• Linux compiler update: user-programmable features on Linux now build with GNU GCC 12.3.0.

Ansys Mechanical Enterprise

Autodyn's explicit dynamics capability is available with Ansys Mechanical Enterprise, which covers nonlinear transient dynamics.

Lagrange, Euler and SPH Solvers in One Model

Different solver technologies can be applied to different parts of the same model and coupled automatically: Lagrangian finite elements for structures, Eulerian solvers for fluids and gases, and smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) for highly fragmented materials.

Blast, Impact and Penetration

Typical applications include blast loading on structures, projectile and fragment impact, penetration of protective systems, and precision blasting in mining, where detonation timing determines fragmentation.

Remapping and Populated Material Models

Solutions can be remapped from 1D to 2D to 3D to capture early detonation physics efficiently, and solver domains can be dezoned and extended. Complex material models come populated with data.
