Ansys Expired TECS & Trade-Ins
Ansys TECS Reinstatement and Trade-Ins - Licence Renewal and Consolidation
A lapsed Ansys licence still solves, but it stops moving. You are locked to the version you had the day cover ended, with no one to call when a job is due, and a client model saved in a newer release will not open.
Technical Enhancement and Customer Support (TECS) brings the licence back to the current release with technical support, and reinstating it is the natural moment to consolidate or trade in licences that no longer fit how your team works.
Ansys TECS Access to 2026 R1
- AI-driven workflows: Ansys GeomAI for concept exploration and a refreshed SimAI portfolio, including SimAI Pro and SimAI Premium desktop versions.
- Engineering Copilot: an AI assistant built into Ansys products such as medini analyze, Rocky and Twin Builder.
- Licensing improvements: faster web licence checkouts and automatic licence assignment updates when entitlements expire.

What You Lose When TECS Expires
- New releases and service packs: not available.
- Solver corrections and bug fixes: not available.
- Technical support by phone, email and web: not available.
- Ansys Customer Portal and Learning Hub: restricted.
- Replacement licence keys: may attract a fee, which turns a server refresh or migration into an unplanned cost.
Existing models still run on your current version either way.
How Far Behind a Lapsed Licence Falls
Ansys ships two releases a year, each with solver speed-ups, new physics and fixes. One year off TECS means two releases missed, three years means six and five years means ten, and every release widens the file-compatibility gap with clients, partners and new hires trained on the current version.
Licence Consolidation and Trade-Ins
- Licences renewing on different dates can move onto one agreement with a single renewal date.
- Unused seats and legacy products can be traded in against the products the team now needs.
- Individual solvers bought over time can often move up to a bundle that covers them all.
- HPC bought piecemeal can be consolidated into HPC Packs sized to how you solve.
Handled together, reinstatement and consolidation often land close to what you were paying before, on a current and tidier set of licences.
Common Licence Review Consultation Topics
- Reinstatement quote: the cost of returning lapsed licences to TECS.
- Licence audit: which seats and products are actually used.
- Trade-in options: moving legacy value toward current products.
- Renewal alignment: one agreement and one renewal date.

Related Products
- Ansys HPC Packs: consolidated parallel computing licences.
- Ansys CFD: a current bundle that often replaces separately bought fluids solvers.
- Ansys Mechanical: a current bundle that often replaces separately bought structural tools.
Ansys TECS Access to FAQ
Do we have to buy the software again?
No. You already own the licence; reinstating TECS brings it back into cover. Send us your Ansys customer number and the products on the licence, and we will come back with a figure and tell you whether a restart promotion is currently open.
