Ansys AVxcelerate Headlamp - Automotive Headlamp Testing Software

Ansys AVxcelerate Headlamp accelerates the development of intelligent headlamps through virtual night driving. Real-time, physics-based optical simulation places headlamp prototypes in a virtual driving environment, so control-law behaviour and edge cases are tested early in design rather than on the test track.

It accounts for the optical properties of materials and light propagation, so lighting decisions rest on accurate results.

Ansys AVxcelerate Headlamp 2026 R1

• Virtual regulation plug-ins included: the C-IASI, IIHS and FMVSS plug-ins, previously add-on packages, are now part of AVxcelerate Headlamp.
• CarMaker 14 co-simulation: co-simulation with IPG CarMaker 14.1, with sample projects, test runs, roads and assets.
• Secure connection to CarMaker: the default gRPC set-up now uses the UDS transport mode to secure the CarMaker link.

Virtual Night Tests for ADB, Matrix and Pixel Beams

Adaptive front-lighting (AFS), adaptive driving beam (ADB), matrix and pixel beam systems are tested in driving scenarios with several vehicles, such as oncoming and preceding traffic. A digital twin of the test track supports the requirements of the FMVSS 108 adaptive driving beam regulation.

Control Law Development and Driver-in-the-Loop Assessment

A C++ and Simulink plug-in connects control-law models, and driver-in-the-loop sessions on a multiscreen set-up or driving simulator assess discomfort glare and perceived performance.

Photometric Analysis and Headlight Ratings

Photometric tools detect and compare beam-pattern defects, including chromatic aberration, and help assess performance against IIHS headlight ratings.
